What is Ultherapy®?
Ultherapy® is a safe, non-surgical Micro-focused Ultrasound skin lifting treatment. Ultherapy® uses the body’s regenerative response to stimulate the production of new collagen for a natural and gradual lifting of the skin on the eyebrow, under the chin and on the neck, as well as smooth lines and wrinkles on the décolletage.

What is unique about Ultherapy®?

Only U.S FDA-cleared non-invasive procedure with real-time visualisation that lifts the neck, chin and brow, and improves lines and wrinkles on the décolletage. Aesthetic physicians can now see the layers of tissue targeted during the treatment to ensure that Micro-focused Ultrasound energy is deposited to where it will be most beneficial.

With the addition of Ultherapy® Décolletage Treatment, Ultherapy® is also the only non-invasive ultrasound procedure cleared by the U.S. FDA to improve lines and wrinkles on the chest.

Can Ultherapy® replace a facelift?
Ultherapy® treats the deep foundational layer of the skin – the SMAS – that is addressed in facelift surgery, but won’t duplicate the results of a surgical facelift. Ultherapy®, however, is a great alternative for those not ready for surgery or for patients looking to extend the effects of cosmetic surgery.

How is Ultherapy® different from other cosmetic procedures?

Ultherapy® is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses time-tested ultrasound technology to stimulate the formation of new collagen deep below the skin’s surface. The production of new collagen takes time, so results can become more apparent over two to three months, even up to six months. The procedure takes about 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the area treated, and there is minimal to no downtime1 afterward. It is also the only non-invasive procedure to use Micro-focused Ultrasound imaging, which allow aesthetic physicians to actually see the layers of tissue targeted during the treatment and ensure the energy is deposited precisely to where it will be most beneficial.

Lasers rely on light energy that is unable to reach deeper skin layers at an optimal temperature. This means laser treatments typically only treat superficial skin and are not FDA-cleared to lift the skin. Lasers also work through the surface of the skin, often resulting in downtime after a procedure. Since the two technologies often treat different types of skin issues, they are actually very compatible.

How does Ultherapy® stimulate the creation of collagen?
Collagen is a natural protein that gives skin its youthfulness by keeping it firm and toned. As we age, collagen breaks down, and the result is a loss of skin strength and elasticity. Ultherapy® uses Micro-focused Ultrasound energy to generate a thermal effect under the skin. The thermal effect essentially jump-starts your body’s own process that produces fresh, new collagen2,3.

How long does an Ultherapy® treatment take?
The length of the treatment will depend on the area being treated and your individual treatment plan. A face and neck procedure typically takes 60-90 minutes, while a chest treatment takes approximately 30 minutes.
Will I need to take time off?
With Ultherapy®, there is minimal to no downtime1. After your procedure, you can resume your normal activities immediately, without having to follow any special post-treatment measures.

How does it feel like to undergo an Ultherapy® treatment?
As Micro-focused Ultrasound energy is being delivered, you will feel a heating sensation under your skin, indicating that the collagen-building process has been initiated. Comfort levels vary from person to person, but the sensation only lasts while Micro-focused Ultrasound energy is being delivered.
When will I see results? How long do they last?
Immediately after your Ultherapy® Treatment, you may see some initial effects. But the ultimate results will take place over 2-3 months, as your body naturally regenerates collagen. Since the procedure stimulates your own collagen production, how long the results last really depends on you. While the treatment produces new collagen on the inside, your natural ageing process will dictate how long that translates into visible results on the outside.

10

How many Ultherapy® treatments will I need?
Most patients only need one treatment. However, depending on the degree of skin laxity, the biological response to Micro-focused Ultrasound energy and your body’s collagen-building process, some patients might benefit from additional treatments. As your skin continues to age, future touch-up treatments can help you keep pace with your body’s natural ageing process.
Are there any side effects?

The skin might appear flushed at first, but the redness should disappear within a few hours. Some patients may experience slight swelling, tingling sensation or tenderness to the touch, but these are temporary by nature. Other less common post-procedural side effects include temporary bruising or numbness on small areas of skin. As with any medical procedure, there is the possibility for other rare effects, which your aesthetic physician will review with you.
